Meet the Chef / Founder
Jamaican-born. Migrated abroad. Travelled the world. Back home to stay.
I don’t really take selfies. I prefer the view from the rock — western Jamaica, where the sea meets the hills, fog greets you in the mornings, and the breeze feels like the island is breathing.
Most of my working life has been spent in kitchens — trained from the bottom as an apprentice and worked my way up to Chef. Italian training, French kitchens, and a whole lot of world cuisine in between.
I’ve cooked in casual cafés, high-end restaurants, prestigious hotels, private estates, yachts, expedition ships, polar voyages, and catered large-scale events. I’ve fed VIPs and locals, dignitaries and dockhands. Later, I taught apprentices at the same school I started at — and even hosted a cooking show.
For a time, I owned a small restaurant in Toronto, where this very cheesecake — in many flavours — sold out every week.
It’s a big world out there, and it’s been a wild ride.
And now? I’m home.
Bringing all that experience to Seven Rivers Cheesecake — with jars, and more to come.
Is cheesecake my specialty?
Not really. I make a lot of things. But every time I make these, people light up, lick their spoons, and ask for more. So I’m sharing them with you.
As a chef, I take food and craft seriously. Our products are made with real ingredients and skill — no fillers, no shortcuts. High-quality dairy, farm-fresh fruit, and the best our island has to offer.
I take pride in doing things well and offering great service, because that’s how it should be when people place their trust in you.
Seven Rivers is more than cheesecake — it’s a small daily luxury, made with care, craft, and love. It’s also a love letter to home, to doing things to a high standard, and to the quiet joy that brings.
Thanks for visiting.
I hope you find something you love.
Also? I like good design, good food, tech, and music. I hate bad service, negativity, and when things just don’t work like they should.
And… I really like shoes.
Because no matter the mood or the weather, you can always look down and smile.
Bless,
D.
